Lucas May – Owner/Instructor

Drafted out of high school in 2003 by the Los Angeles Dodgers,  played shortstop for the first 3 years of his career. After a brief stint in the outfield, he filled a void of catching prospects in the Dodgers system and converted full time to catching in 2006 — 3 years later he made his Major League debut for the Kansas City Royals. In 12 seasons of professional baseball, he’s had the opportunity to learn from the best minds in baseball. Baseball has been his lifelong passion, and it is now his mission to teach kids what it takes to play at the next level!

  • 2003 1st team All-State – Shortstop.
  • Signed letter of intent to attend University of Missouri.

Steve Scheelk – Instructor

Steve Scheelk grew up playing elite level baseball in the Kansas City area. Graduated in 2007 from North Kansas City High School, placing 5th in state his senior year. Attended Maple Woods Community College on an Academic Scholarship while playing 2 years of NJCAA Division I baseball and taking home the NJCAA Region XVI Regional Championship in 2009. In 2010 and 2011 he attended Union College (KY) on an Athletic Scholarship where he was awarded the AAC Academic All-Conference Team award. Both years they won the AAC Regular Season Championship and had an Opening Round Appearance to the NAIA Baseball National Championship. Steve received his Bachelors of Science in Human Performance in 2011. After college Steve became a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer by the National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) in 2011. Steve continued his education by receiving his Masters in Healthcare in 2017, from the University of Saint Mary.

In 2012, Steve started working as a personal baseball/softball instructor for youth around the Kansas City area. He has worked with a wide variety of age groups including multiple kids that have been awarded college scholarships to play baseball/softball. His love for the game, hard work, dedication, commitment to improving his knowledge, high level coaching experience, and passion for youth athletics, drives his goals to help kids reach their full potential in sports and in life!

Jeff Cain – Instructor

Jeff Cain is a lifetime Kansas City native and a 1978 graduate of Winnetonka High School.  He played Baseball, Football, and Basketball for the Griffins.

Cain is a William Jewell graduate and played both baseball and football for the Cardinals. He was inducted into the William Jewell Hall of Fame, as a member of the 1980 William Jewell football team.

Jeff has been a coach of multiple sports for 42 years at the recreational, tournament, high school, and college levels.  He has been a softball pitching instructor for over 27 of those years. He served as the Smithville High School pitching coach from 2004-2014, where he enjoyed being able to coach his youngest daughter and have his oldest daughter coach along with him (as pictured). He then became the Varsity Pitching Coach for Staley High School from 2016 to 2022 and served as Head Softball Coach at Staley High School from 2018-2019. He helped developed multiple All Conference, All District and All State pitchers, who also went to play at the D1 college level. Jeff also served as the Park University pitching coach in 2020.
